There’s a certain kind of person who only follows the groomed trail.
They want the route planned, the conditions perfect, the outcome guaranteed.
But that’s not where the magic happens.
Some of the best days I’ve ever had on a sled came from ignoring the map and chasing instinct.
It starts with a hunch—
“Let’s see what’s past that ridge.”
Next thing you know, you’re carving through untouched snow, navigating terrain nobody’s filmed, photographed, or even seen in years.
But it comes with risk. You can’t be careless. You need awareness, training, and the right crew.
Same goes for life and business.
You can take the known path. Play it safe. Hit the checkpoints.
Or you can look up, spot a line no one’s talking about, and say:
“I’ll go first.”
The best moves I’ve made in my career? They weren’t the ones everyone said to make.
They were the ones that felt right, even if they didn’t look safe on paper.
That’s the edge I live on.
Prepared, but not predictable.
Calculated, but willing to go off-course.
Because the best lines aren’t on the map.
They’re waiting for someone bold enough to make them.
